After humble beginnings in 2001, the partnership between Osaka Metropolitan University (prior to April 2022 was known as Osaka City University) & Chulalongkorn’s University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts led to the hosting of an ongoing annual international annual forum over 20 years. Then on April 30, 2015 another milestone was reached with the establishment of a regional OMU’s office in Bangkok on the central Chulalongkorn University - CU campus.
It serves as regional hub to support OMU’s existing exchange agreements with Chiang Mai University, Mahidol University, Naresuan University, Silpakorn University, Srinakharinwirot University and Thammasat University while continuing its goal of recruiting high caliber exchange students and facilitating university-industry collaboration projects both in Thailand and throughout South-East Asia.
With the 2015 creation of the ASEAN Economic Community, Osaka Metropolitan University (The largest public university in Japan; composed of 8 faculties and 11 graduate schools) wants to participate by welcoming more students from South-East Asia as it will heighten the awareness of the role of this region among Japanese students and educators while also further diversifying its campus. The Osaka Metropolitan University’s Bangkok office (OMU-BKK) will provide a central base for organizing and supporting recruitment and exchange activities.
